Circa 1946-1947 BuNo V-46557 Squadron may be VP(AM)-3. Two crewmen are relaxing on the 50-caliber in the waist blister, and the flight engineer is looking at the camera through the tower window; the pilot seems to be talking on the mike. Note the JATO equipment behind the aft wing strut. Mark Aldrich has more info on this plane: The red bar in the insignia indicates the photo was taken after 1947-Jan. Also, the code "EB" was in use by VP-33 around that time. (Thanks, Mark) (Photo from the R.L.Lawson collection, courtesy of the Nat'l Museum of Naval Aviation) |
