To, From, Unit: incorrect. On 1937-07-01 (before it was renamed VP-101 on 1940-12-03), squadron VP-21 #2 was transferred to PatWing-10 in the Philippines. On 1942-03-28, VP-21 #3 transferred from NAS Pearl Harbor to join VP-101 in Adelaide, Australia after the latter's desperate retreat from the Philippines - and was soon merged into VP-101. VP-101 was certainly not at Pearl Harbor to take ownership of 2389, and the activity from Ogden's logbook suggests VP-21 #3 (as "VP-101") didn't take it with them. |
