I haven't had time to read much of this book yet, but it's by the same author as Black Cat Raiders of World War II, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It contains an account that I haven't seen elsewhere: the PBYs not caught on the ground during the attack on Pearl Harbor. In all, there are 24 pages given to the Catalina, including 10 photos and 3 drawings.

Captain Knott is a former editor of Naval Aviation News, a publication of the Naval Historical Center. While there, he had access to a truly enviable archive of Naval Aviation history and put it to good use, writing several books with a good narrative style.
