The PBY-1's designation changed from P3Y-1 in 1935-Aug, shortly after Consolidated was awarded the contact for this new type of plane. It's possible that VP-11F was going to get the first production PBY-1s, but VP-6F actually got them. VP-6F was later redesignated VP-6, VP-23, VP-11, then VPB-11. I'm not sure yet what the initials "RMS", "TC", "PR", "AR", or "D" mean. Lines 2, 3, and 5 note major overhauls ("MAJOR O H"). "(Int.)" means interim overhauls. Line 3 also has a note that looks like "ltr. of 3/23/39". Line 7 notes some kind of overhaul: "(scifer. KUnder - OH)". Perhaps it's "scofor PHarbor" meaning "Scouting Force Pearl Harbor"; BuNo 0112 underwent overhaul at "Scofor" about this same time. These first cards were poorly focused. |
